The Government of Canada’s decision to implement the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) was done with the needs of Canadian parents and families in mind, to help them during the years they need it most, and to stop sending cheques to the wealthiest Canadians. It was designed to give the greatest amount to those in the greatest need and is simple to acquire.
In April of 2018, there were 11,000 CCB payments made in our riding, Vimy. These payments went to parents and families that covered a total of 19,360 children. The average monthly benefit of all recipients was $670 and the total amount given to Canadians through the CCB in the riding was $7,378,000. As we continue to get more data, we will continue to update the constituents of Laval on the ways this government is looking out for the best interests of Canadians raising and supporting their children.
